Blended scotches are, as the name suggests, a combination of two or more scotch whiskies. Blended Malt Whiskey is a fusion of single malt whiskeys from different distilleries; if a bottle is labelled ‘malt’ or ‘pure malt’, it is most likely to be a blended malt; creating an aroma and flavour of the brand as opposed to the distillery. Blended Whiskey is a medley of different types of Whiskey from many different distilleries, thereby enabling the blender to produce a strain, which is consistent with their brand as opposed to that of any particular distillery. Most Scotch, Irish and Canadian Whiskey is sold as part of a blend, even when the spirits are the product of one distillery.
